GOLF: We-Ko-Pa Golf Club

With two award-winning golf courses set in the untouched Sonoran Desert just outside Scottsdale, Arizona, We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is truly Arizona’s Ultimate Golf Experience. Both the Scott Miller designed Cholla course and the Coore/Crenshaw designed Saguaro course are among the very best in the southwestern United States as judged by both golf media and players alike. Their unique differences set them apart from other 36-hole facilities in the Scottsdale area, and with no homes, roads, businesses or development of any kind, at We-Ko-Pa, it’s just you, your ball and the sights and sounds of nature.

Day 3

Thursday 6th February 2025

Golf at Greyhawk Golf Club

The Tom Fazio-designed Raptor Course offers thrilling challenges that command players’ respect through a high-stakes game of risk and reward. The course unfolds over the gentle hills and across shaded natural arroyos found in this picturesque corner of the Sonoran Desert. Most of Raptor’s fairways are generous, and the greens are large with sweeping undulations. Misses tend to find deep greenside bunkers and grass collection areas, making the scramble to get up and down a true test of the short game.

Designed by David Graham, and golf course architect Gary Panks, Grayhawk’s Talon Course is one of the most exciting and dramatic tests of Sonoran Desert golf in the Southwest. The 6,973-yard layout one of the highest rated golf courses in Arizona, and has been included on Golf Magazine’s prestigious list of the “Top 100 You Can Play in the U.S.” The Talon course provides breathtaking views of the nearby McDowell Mountains as well as the Phoenix/Scottsdale skyline. And uniquely, Talon’s back nine is built around a series of deep box canyons with a handful of holes laid out along steep drop-offs and thick stands of Mesquite, Palo Verde and Ironwood trees.

Day 4

Wednesday 5th February 2025

Skybox at the Phoenix Open!

Attend the Waste Management Phoenix Open at the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale – 16th Hole Skybox with food and beverage included all day

The Phoenix Open is the best attended event in golf; with the 4-day attendance of the tournament usually around 500,000. The most popular hole for spectators to watch is the 16th hole due to the “Amphitheatre” atmosphere of the hole, created by the stands erected every year for the tournament.

The hole could be described as “one big party”, with many students from the nearby Arizona State University in attendance. Poor shots at the 16th hole receive boos, because the hole is very easy by the PGA’s standards. Good shots, however, are cheered for loudly.

Famous moments at the 16th include Tiger Woods’ hole-in-one in 1997, which caused the gallery to erupt, throwing cups and other objects in celebration, and Justin Leonard giving the finger to the gallery after a poor shot. In 2011 Australian golfer Jarrod Lyle aced the hole, causing the stands to erupt in excitement.
