Please make your travel arrangements so that you arrive today at Cape Town. The closest airport is Cape Town International Airport (CPT). A Group transfer at 4pm to your Cape Town hotel is included.

Nestled in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands, De Zalze Golf Course offers a picturesque setting and a challenging round of golf. Designed by leading SA course designer Peter Matkovich, this course is built around & named after three wine estates. Some of the buildings date back to 1838 and the layout is a beautiful mix of parkland & links. With the majestic Stellenbosch Mountains as a backdrop and tall oaks lining the fairways this course makes for a challenge that is pleasing to the eye.

GOLF AT PEARL VALLEY GOLF COURSE

The Pearl Valley Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course at Val de Vie Estate carries the name of the world’s preeminent golf course designer. The “Golden Bear” described the course as being “Surrounded by mountains, this is one of the most spectacular settings in which I have designed a golf course.” Beyond the greens, landscaping, areas of natural fynbos and lakes, the Simonsberg mountain range creates a picture-perfect backdrop. Since opening in 2003, the course has received a multitude of awards including recently being named the 3rd best course in the country for 2023 by South Africa’s Top 100 Golf Courses.

SIGHT-SEEING TOUR OF FRANSCHHOEK & STELLENBOSCH

Today you will tour the Cape Winelands region, located about 40km to the east of Cape Town, where many legendary Cape wines are produced from the row upon row of grapevines. The tour will take you to explore the villages of Franschhoek and
Stellenbosch.

Known as the “French Corner,” Franschhoek is home to wine-tasting experiences in vineyards with uninterrupted views of the Franschhoek Mountains.

You will also discover the enchanting town of Stellenbosch, nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Dating back to 1679, this picturesque destination combines old-world charm with breathtaking landscapes. The second oldest town in South Africa, Stellenbosch has fondly been called ‘Eikestad’ or city of oaks and its streets are lined with some of the most beautiful surviving examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architecture in the Cape.

DAY 4

CAPE TOWN TO GONDWANA WITH WINE TOUR, LUNCH AND SAFARI

After breakfast, check-out of the hotel, before we start our trip to the Garden Route. On the way, we will stop and enjoy a group wine tasting & lunch (included) in the Robertson Valley on Route 62. Robertson is one of South Africa’s better known wine-producing areas.

After lunch we will continue on to Gondwana Private Game Reserve near Mosselbay.

AFTERNOON: Enjoy a late afternoon guided game drive conducted in open game viewers by the Lodge’s expert field guides. Gondwana is Home to lion, white rhino, eland, red hartebeest, endangered Cape Mountain Zebra, springbok, kudu, hippo and Cape buffalo to name a few. Gondwana is also home to the Southern most elephant herds in the world.

Each game drive includes a beverage and snack on the drive and Afternoon Tea prior to the evening Game drive.

Accommodation is in one of Kwena Lodge’s luxury villas situated adjacent to the Lodge. The deluxe 3-bedroom villas feature an open plan lounge with kitchen and dining room all opening onto a wraparound deck with magnificent valley and mountain views. Each bedroom has its own ensuite.

GONDWANA GAME RESERVE

EARLY MORNING GUIDED GAME DRIVE: It’s an early start to enjoy watching the wildlife before returning to the lodge for breakfast (included).

You can then spend the morning at leisure.
The Reserve’s expert field guides reveal Africa’s wildlife to Gondwana’s guests in a Cape Fynbos environment; a truly unique safari experience! Exhilarating encounters on game drive with endangered species like the Cape Mountain Zebra and Rhinoceros will provide lasting memories.

minutes) for one of the highlights of the tour—golf at Pinnacle Point!
Overlooking the Indian Ocean near Mossel Bay, and designed by Peter Matkovich and 2011 Open
Champion Darren Clarke, Pinnacle Point is one of the most unique & scenic golf courses in the
world. The Par 72 layout is characterised by 7 majestic holes that line the Indian Ocean rock cliffs.
All 18 holes have been designed to fit the contours of the land. Pinnacle Point is an exceptionally
well balanced golf course that will challenge golfers of all abilities.

The Cango Caves is a cultural and natural landmark in South Africa. The 20 million year-old Cango Caves system consists of a series of hidden chambers cut deep into a thick limestone rock layer
and is the oldest tourist attraction in SA.
Cango is also home to the Ostrich Show Farm where you will experience a tour of the farm
including eggs, incubators and chicks (in season), hand-feeding ostriches and you can even hug or
kiss their super friendly Ostrich called Betsie!

GOLF AT FANCOURT LINKS GOLF COURSE

The Links is currently ranked as the No 1 Golf Course in the country by Golf Digest South Africa. The
Links is the iconic golfing hallmark of the Fancourt Estate. Golfing legend, Gary Player, described it
as his greatest ever feat as a course designer. Featuring an undulating, windswept terrain and dune
-style landscape, The Links has hosted some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world,
including the Presidents Cup (2003) and the SA Open (2005).

DAY 8

GOLF AT FANCOURT MONTAGU GC

More Information

The 18-hole Montagu parkland layout is the original course at Fancourt (from an initial 27-hole
design), which was upgraded in 2005 by David McLay Kidd when new 1st and 9th holes were
introduced. Like the other Fancourt courses, the Montagu is maintained to a very high standard
and its trees and water features add interest and variety to the undulating landscape. The Links at
Fancourt may get most of the plaudits these days but the Montagu is still a great course, fully
deserving its consistently high ranking position in South African course listings.

accommodation only minutes away from the Blue Flag awarded Hobie Beach. The Boardwalk is
also a unique entertainment, dining and conference venue with a casino and a shopping mall.

Voted the Best New Course in South Africa in 2007 and consistently ranked one of the top 10 golf
courses in the country, St Francis Links is a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course. Nicklaus excelled
himself as a designer with his varied challenges, short and long, wide and narrow, uphill and down,
each hole complemented by exquisite greens complexes. This is a True Links, although some purists might not appreciate the water hazards, unavoidable due to the Sand River running through the
property.

MORNING HALF-DAY GUIDED CAPE RECIFE LIGHTHOUSE TOUR

The Cape Recife Area is situated along Port Elizabeth’s magnificent beachfront and is a ‘must-see’
destination for anyone visiting Port Elizabeth. The Cape Recife Lighthouse is situated in the Cape
Recife Nature Reserve on the Southern point of Algoa Bay, and was commissioned on 1 April 1851.
It is the turning point into the bay and warns mariners of hazards including Thunderbolt Reef. The
Nature Reserve is also known for its diverse marine and birdlife, including the world’s largest
African Penguin and Cape Gannet colonies.

DAY 11

GOLF AT HUMEWOOD GOLF COURSE

More Information

The Humewood Golf course, situated on the sand dunes on the shores of Algoa Bay, Port
Elizabeth, is only 10 minutes from the hotel. The course has been designed with wide and
undulating fairways, fast greens and thick coastal bush. Today, Humewood is still one of only a few
genuine seaside links courses found outside of Britain. The fairways are exposed, undulating and
wide to compensate for strong winds, the greens are firm and fast, the Bunkers are few with steep
faces, and there are no water hazards.
