Mackenzie’s designs are notable for their sensitivity to the nature of the original site and he is admired for producing holes that offer an ideal balance of risk and reward. After designing Titirangi in 1927, MacKenzie went on to design some of the world’s top courses including Augusta, Cypress Point and Royal Melbourne. Consistently ranked as one of New Zealand’s top courses, currently ranked 7th and Auckland’s No. 1 course.

Wairakei, a golf course in a wildlife sanctuary, has to be the quintessential New Zealand golf experience. Only 10 minutes by road from the popular tourist mecca of Lake Taup?, Wairakei sits apart inside a predator-free sanctuary. This could be the quietest course ever with the only sounds from the protected native birds and the echo of club on ball. Golf at Kinloch Club and travel to Napier

This morning tee off at Kinloch Club.

Golf at the Jack Nicklaus designed The Kinloch Club is often compared to the classic link courses in Scotland and Ireland. However, instead of traditional sea views, this world-class championship Par 72 course is positioned between panoramic views of Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest fresh-water lake, and the natural beauty of rugged rural farmland. Ranked as New Zealand’s number one golf course in 2014 by a select team of New Zealand Golf Professionals the Kinloch Club is also rated 76th of the top 100 golf courses outside of America by Golf Digest Magazine.

Following your round of golf you will be transferred to Napier.

NAPIER – the largest city in the Hawke’s Bay, whose port handles the province’s huge volumes of produce, spreads around the wedge of Bluff Hill, sometimes still referred to as “Scinde Island.” Napier was almost completely surrounded by water before the severe 1931 earthquake flattened the city but uplifted vast areas of the surrounding seabed. As a result of the disaster, the city was almost completely rebuilt during the 1930’s, giving it an Art Deco style of architecture, unique to a New Zealand city.

Accommodation: Scenic Hotel Te Pania – 2 nights including breakfast

Styled to complement its remarkable location on the edge of the beautiful Hawke’s Bay, Napier’s Scenic Hotel Te Pania is one of the most recognisable hotels in Napier, boasting design awards for its style and offers an unmatched level of service to visitors to the region.
