We hardly need to tell you that the Masters Tournament is one of the year’s four most important golf tournaments. If you’re not already looking forward to the US Masters, there are some good reasons to get excited. This year, six Australian players will attend the tournament: Jason Day, Oliver Goss, Marc Leishman, and last year’s winner, the first Australian to win the Masters, Adam Scott as well as two later starters John Senden and Stephen Bowditch. In fact, Australia is only out-represented by three nations in the 2014 Masters: the United States, the UK and South Africa.
The competition is sure to be especially fierce this year, with the top five players with respect to odds—McIlroy, Woods, Scott, Mickelson, and Day—standing close, between eight and 16 to one, according to several sources. Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods top most of the charts, and McIlroy’s strong showing in recent history almost certainly indicates that his performance at this year’s US Masters will be well worth watching. Both Adam Scott and Jason Day also rank highly in numerous charts, so a second consecutive Australian champion remains a distinct possibility this year.

However, this is not to discourage anybody from visiting Atlanta or Columbia if they wish. Both cities are the capitals of their respective states, and Atlanta is arguably the single most important cultural centre in the American South.
