Opened in 2008, the Castle Course is the newest addition to the St Andrews Links collection. Designed by Scottish architect David McLay Kidd, it sits on elevated ground east of town, overlooking St Andrews Bay and the North Sea.
The course follows two loops of nine across rolling clifftop terrain. Changes in elevation, exposed coastal conditions and carefully positioned hazards create a demanding layout, while the closing holes bring players close to the cliffs and some of the course’s most impressive views.
It offers a modern introduction to St Andrews golf before the group takes on the Old Course the following day.
