Simola Golf & Country Estate is perched high above the town of Knysna on the Garden Route. Opened in 2005, this Jack Nicklaus signature course occupies extremely undulating terrain with panoramic views of the Knysna Lagoon and surrounding mountains. The property is split by a high ridge - twelve holes sit in a valley below the hotel, while six traverse a separate valley accessible via steep cart paths.
Nicklaus incorporated five par 5s and five par 3s, using high tees and low greens to create thrilling downhill shots and scenic vistas. The opening par-5 is one of the most challenging on the course, while the long par-3 6th plays dramatically over the Knysna River far below.
