The Reserve Golf Course is a private residential course set among protected wetlands on the Grand Strand of South Carolina. Designed by Greg Norman with architect Rich Mandell and opened in 1998, the course follows the natural contours of the low-country landscape. It has been recognised by Golfweek as one of the Top 200 Residential Courses in the United States. The design aims to be challenging but fair - Norman emphasised that players may not have to hit every shot straight, but they must "think straight" on every hole.
The course winds through 160 acres of wetlands and conservation areas. Golfers cross wooden bridges between holes and encounter waste bunkers, marsh edges and natural lagoons. The resulting layout feels as if it has always existed in the landscape. Generous landing areas and multiple teeing options make the course playable for different skill levels, while the fast TifEagle greens and strategic bunkering demand precision. The club offers a full practice facility, golf instruction, clubhouse dining and a busy member event calendar.
-
Opening hole favors a tee shot on the right side to open up the fairway; a reachable par 5.
-
Dog-leg right par 4; players can play safely to the right of a waste bunker or cut the corner.
-
Par 3 surrounded by bunkers with a green that slopes off the back.
-
Long par 5 requiring an accurate tee shot; the lay-up should favour the right side and the elevated green makes the up-and-down challenging.
-
Par 4 with a large tree off the tee; woods line the right side and the green is elevated.
-
A lone tree in the fairway serves as the target; the green slopes away.
-
One of the longest par 3s on the course; woods guard both sides and bunkers protect the front.
-
Plays shorter than it looks; a left-to-right shot helps navigate the fairway.
-
Tee shot must be positioned left of a marsh to avoid being blocked by a tall tree on the right.
-
Short par 4 with water left of the green and a large runoff area on the right.
-
Straightaway par 4 with a tree blocking approaches from the right; can stretch to 440 yards.
-
Par 3 where a ridge divides the green; slopes toward the water on one side and a collection area on the other.
-
Most reachable par 5; a tall tree short of the green blocks the left approach, while marshland guards the front left.
-
Tough tee shot requiring a drive through a gap between trees; long second shot to a sloping green.
-
Par 4 playing into the wind with bunkers guarding both sides of the fairway.
-
Short par 4 with a narrow fairway; strategy off the tee is more important than distance.
-
Long par 3 requiring a precise iron over wetlands to a deep green.
-
Final par 5 sweeps around marshland to an elevated green, providing a dramatic finish.
-
The club offers a full driving range, short-game area and putting greens.
-
Clubhouse dining, locker rooms and professional-run golf shop.
-
Golf lessons and member clinics are provided by the professional staff.
