Kawana Hotel

Accommodation Type:
  • Hotel

The Kawana Hotel is a bastion of "Imperial" leisure. Founded in 1936 by Baron Okura Kishichiro, it was conceived to be the premier resort of the Orient, modeled after the English country estates and the golfing meccas of the West. Unlike modern luxury hotels that focus on slick minimalism, Kawana trades on "Provenance."

It is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, creating an atmosphere of living history. The hotel's location on a cliff overlooking the Sagaminada Sea, combined with its world-famous golf courses, allows it to position itself as the "Pebble Beach of Japan."
