GOLF AT SOUTHPORT & AINSDALE (Afternoon warm-up round)
SUNDAY 7th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel
Situated centrally at the heart of England’s Golf Coast, Southport and Ainsdale (S&A) has twice hosted the Ryder Cup. It is a majestic and challenging championship course with undulating fairways, rolling dunes, heathland shoulders, and more often than not a steady sea breeze. All this supports it’s reputation as a formidable TOP 50 golfing challenge, and adds support as to why it hosts other major competitions and the R&A Amateur Championship.
One of the most famous quotes about Southport and Ainsdale GC was made by Walter Hagen, who after leading the USA and winning the Ryder Cup, Hagen openly stated ‘I have just had the greatest thrill of my golfing life.’
The course today remains a magnificent test of golf, especially with the sea breeze and profusions of heather and gorse combining to provide a challenging and immensely enjoyable round S&A offers both modern distance and original James Braid architectural features. Upon completing 18 holes golfers will always feel a true sense of achievement.

GOLF AT ROYAL LYTHAM
MONDAY 8th July 2024
Breakfast at your Hotel
Walk the Path of Legends—Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club is one of the premier links courses in the World, host to eleven Open Championships, two Ryder Cups and numerous other major tournaments including The Women’s Open, The Senior Open, The Amateur Championship and The Walker Cup.
Nestling between two busy seaside resorts, the Royal Lytham Golf Course is one of the most unique courses in the rotation of the British Open. It is a links in every sense of the word, with sandy soil and the wind blowing in from the Irish Sea. Open to the elements, the trees on the course permanently lean sideways, with the wind often proving a formidable competitor in the homeward five holes of the course. Unusually, the course is set amongst a Victorian housing estate, and occupies a limited piece of land, with red-brick houses in plain view.
The course is well designed, with holes to test every level of player. It opens with a Par 3, the only major championship course to do so. The first four holes and last five are said to be amongst the trickiest in Britain.

GOLF AT ROYAL BIRKDALE
TUESDAY 9th July 2024
Breakfast at your Hotel
Situated on the golden links of the North West coast in Southport, Royal Birkdale is possibly the finest of all courses in England and has held The Open Championship 10 times and the Ryder Cup in 1965 and 1968 between the USA and Great Britain.
It truly is a famous links and widely recognised for its fairness. If you hit the fairways, rarely will the ball be thrown off course. The fairways are laid out in the flat-bottomed valleys between the towering dunes. These dunes, in turn, provide superb viewing platforms for spectators. Invariably in immaculate condition, Royal Birkdale is a very tough cookie to master. The greens were re-built prior to the 1998 Open and despite their youth, are extremely difficult to read. Royal Birkdale can be a torrid experience when the wind is up, with white horses kicking and rearing their heads in the Irish Sea, crashing like kamikazes onto the beach. In these conditions, many of the carries from tees to fairways into the prevailing wind can be too much for the average golfer. But whatever the weather, Royal Birkdale is a provocative place to play golf.
EVENING : By Own Arrangements
GOLF AT ROYAL LIVERPOOL
WEDNESDAY 10th July 2024
Breakfast at your Hotel
The Royal Liverpool Golf Club links at Hoylake can be beautiful, uplifting, challenging, and even daunting when the wind really blows and the summer rough is deep. The course was created to be a demanding test of golf and remains so, and lies at the very heart of the history and development of the game in Great Britain.
Royal Liverpool is the oldest of all the English seaside Clubs with the exception of Westward Ho! in Devon, which was established just a few years earlier. Despite its at first glance flat and benign appearance, Hoylake makes the trickiest demands of a player’s shot selection, distance control and accuracy.
The Club celebrated its 150th birthday in 2019, a year which also saw the Walker Cup return to Hoylake, having made its last appearance in 1983. The Match was a wonderful addition to the celebrations of Royal Liverpool’s proud history and important role in the development of the amateur game.

TRANSFER TO TURNBERRY
THURSDAY 11th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel
After breakfast transfer to Trump Turnberry Hotel (300 mins travel time)
Check In: 5* TRUMP TURNBERRY
Maidens Rd, Ayrshire KA26 9LT
Created in the grand style in the early years of the 20th century, Trump Turnberry Scotland is one of Scotland’s national treasures with recognition as a “Best Hotels in Europe” 2021 Gold Badge Winner.
As you approach the resort, the miles of glorious west coast of Scotland give way to the familiar soft green of the world famous golf courses, swiftly followed by your first glimpse of the unmistakable red roofs of this Edwardian era hotel.
True to its history, the pace of life here is unhurried. Welcoming staff greet travellers with traditional Scottish hospitality and quiet but attentive service. In the distance the glowering silhouette of Ailsa Craig, and every day a lone piper who breaks the afternoon calm; it’s easy to believe that Turnberry exists for you alone.

GOLF AT PRESTWICK
FRIDAY 12th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel
The course is a traditional monument, an authentic affair with a layout of holes that snake to and fro through rugged dunes and rippled fairways. There are numerous blind holed and cavernous sleepered bunkers with wooden steps to take you down to the bottom. The greens are notoriously firm and fast—some are hidden in hollows whilst others are perched on raised plateaux. The majority are quite small and all of them have wicked borrows to negotiate.
One of Prestwick’s great strengths is the quality and variety of holes. The 1st is one of the most intimidating holes in golf, a par four called “Railway”…..There are so many great things to say about Prestwick. The best thing to do is to play the course and judge it for yourself.
EVENING : By Own Arrangements
The Birthplace of the Open Championship
“The fact that Prestwick was the original site for the Open Championship simply confirms the history of the club and its place as one of the best golf experiences in the world” Ernie Els
GOLF AT TURNBERRY ALISA GOLF COURSE
SATURDAY 13th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel
The Ailsa course at the Turnberry Resort is probably the most scenic Open Championship golf course. Turnberry was the last venue to be added to the Open Championship rotation. It may have hosted only four Opens but it has become a firm favourite.
Situated on a craggy headland overlooking the small granite island of Ailsa Craig in the Firth of Clyde, with superb views across to the Mull of Kintyre and the Isle of Arran, the course is located in an ideal spot for playing golf.
Essentially, the Ailsa’s an out-and-back layout with the prevailing wind usually at your back for the outward nine. The stretch of holes from the 4th to the 11th is thrilling and the scenery breathtaking. The par three 9th begins a genuinely world-class sequence of three holes laid out along the water’s edge where the tee shot at #9 plays across the bay at Turnberry Point to a green beside the lighthouse which serves as a fabulous halfway house grill.
Evening: By Own Arrangements

GOLF AT ST ANDREWS LINKS NEW COURSE OR JUBILEE COURSE
MONDAY 15th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel The oldest ‘new’ course in the world, the second course at the Home of Golf was built by the Keeper of the Green, Tom Morris in 1895 and it was imaginatively named to differentiate from its famous neighbour. Boasting undulating fairways and challenging greens, the New Course is a classic test of links golf.
The third championship course at the Home of Golf, the Jubilee is considered by many to be the most challenging course on the famous Links. Built in 1897, it was originally intended for use by ladies and beginners; however, after seeing its prime golfing location between the New Course and the sea, the Jubilee was converted to a championship layout in 1988.
“The Home of Golf” at St Andrews is the only venue in Britain that can lay claim to having seven courses in its portfolio and the Jubilee, the 3rd oldest course at St Andrews, is perhaps the most underrated of them all.
Course allocation will be confirmed prior to day of play.
Evening: By Own Arrangements
GOLF AT ST ANDREWS LINKS “OLD COURSE”
TUESDAY 16th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel The oldest and most iconic golf course in the world. The Home of Golf, where the game was first played 600 years ago.
It goes without saying that every golfer should play this course at least once, preferably multiple times. It sends shivers down the spine when the starter announces your name, setting those first nerves jangling. Oozing familiarity with names like the Swilcan Burn, the bridge over the burn —thought to have been built by the Romans — and the Valley of the Sin.
There are many memorable holes on the Old Course, but one in particular, the 17th, the Road Hole, is probably the most famous hole in the world! You will definitely remember the Old Course experience for the rest of your life. Rarely is the Old course ranked outside the top ten because it’s a very special links, designed by Mother Nature.
Evening: By Own Arrangements
“I fell in love with it the first day I played it. There’s just no other golf course that is even remotely close” Jack Nicklaus, Open Champion 1970, 1978

GOLF AT CARNOUSTIE GOLF COURSE
WEDNESDAY 17th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel Carnoustie’s Championship is one of the courses that every golfer in the world wants to play. Voted the World’s Best Golf Course in 2019, venue for eight Open Championships and two Women’s Opens, Carnoustie is undoubtedly one of, if not the most, memorable golf courses that you’ll ever play, not just in Scotland but in all of golf.
This bucket list venue, also known as the toughest venue on The Open rota, is a course that challenges each person who visits and is rightly known as Golf’s Greatest Test. It will make you think on every shot, there’s no escaping the course once you’ve started, one of the beauties of Carnoustie is the way in which it grabs hold of you, immerses you in the landscape and takes you on a journey. That deep breath that’s taken on the first just before teeing off is only exhaled on stepping off at the 18th.
As you journey around the course, you will understand its charm as a golfing venue, vistas from the tees and fairways which confound, temp and please you. Culminating in the last four holes better known as the finest finish in golf anywhere in the world.
This is Scottish links golf at its absolute best!
Evening: By Own Arrangements
GOLF AT KINGSBARNS GOLF COURSE
THURSDAY 18th July 2024
Breakfast at your hotel Return transfers to Kingsbarns Golf Course Our passion is to host you for a memorable round of traditional Scottish links golf. “Embracing the Sea” is the course motto, and indeed Kingsbarns Golf Links is also unrivaled for beauty not just in Scotland but anywhere, as each and every hole at Kingsbarns is in sight of the North Sea. What’s more it has its own burn (the Cambo), which was uncovered during all the earth moving.
The terrain is perfect for golf, rippling fairways, humps and hollows. Kingsbarns Golf Links offers dramatic drives over spectacular corners of the sea with quintessential Scottish bunkers guarding the fairways and fantastically undulating greens offering a last line of defense.
Rarely does a golf course debut in the world top-100 rankings, and rarer still does one open up in the top 50! But this is exactly what has happened at Kingsbarns Golf Links, a modern classic built by Kyle Phillips. It’s one of only a few true links courses to be built recently along Scotland’s coastline, so it is just as well that this course is a cracker and deserves its status as one of the greatest links courses in the world!
