Overview of tour…

HAWAII (MAUI):

Discover heaven on earth. White-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, breathtaking scenery and first class golf courses have seen travellers vote Maui as the best island in the world.  And no wonder…..

With 15 fabulous courses open, Maui and Lana’I are premier locations for golfers of every ability.  And, each course has its own special qualities.  With so many choices, which courses to play can become a difficult decision.  So, Teed Up has chosen what they consider to be the best options for a memorable golfing tour.

KAPALUA PLANTAION COURSE:

So special, even the PGA TOUR only allows winners from the previous year to tee it up at its season opening event, the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Witness awe-inspiring views, dramatic elevation changes, and nature’s challenges, as you test your ability and experience golf at its finest.

KAPALUA BAY COURSE:

The Bay Course, Host of the 2008 Kapalua LPGA Classic, winds its way through towering palms and flowering hibiscus. Built with the tee on one side of a Pacific inlet and the green on the other, use the trade winds as your 5th tee shot carries over glistening Oneloa Bay. With its uninterrupted views of the Pacific and gentle rolling fairways, the Bay Course is sure to excite Golfers of all skill levels.

CHALLENGE MANELE BAY COURSE:

Image of CHALLENGE MANELE BAY COURSE by Teed Up Golf ToursThe spectacular natural setting of The Challenge at Manele guarantees an unforgettable round for every golfer who plays here. Perched atop 200-foot cliffs, the course offers dramatic views of the ocean from all 18 holes. Lush, green fairways are bordered by black lava outcroppings, reminders of the ancient origins of Lana’i. Carved out of the rugged coast, the Challenge at Manele sprawls across ancient lava fields, with 180-degree ocean panoramas from every hole. Red cliffs plunging down to blue sea, green fairways engulfing white sand traps, and blossoms from fissures in the black lava rock. This was the palette of designer Jack Nicklaus, who shaped the 7,039–yard, par 72 championship course, carefully protecting and preserving the archaeological ruins within its borders.

Teeing off from the cliffs at Hulopoe Bay with the Pacific surging below, you face perhaps the world’s most unforgiving water hazard. The twelfth hole is nothing short of a leap of faith, with 200 yards of churning waves to cross. Other holes demand shots over yawning ravines. Fortunately, the five-tee concept – with courses of shorter yardage mapped in red, white, blue, gold and “Nicklaus” – allows golfers of all levels to emerge unscathed.

WAILEA GOLD COURSE:

Image of WAILEA GOLD COURSE by Teed Up Golf ToursWailea Gold Course was the home course of The Champions Skins Game from 2001 to 2007.
The 7,078-yard Gold Course is the most challenging of Wailea’s three courses and plays to 7100 yards from the back tee’s. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the Gold was honored by both Golf Magazine and Golf Digest as one of the country’s ten best new resort courses when it opened in 1994. Known as a “thinking player’s course,” the Gold offers a true test of a golfers skills. You will enjoy spectacular vistas of the ocean, Molokini islet, ancient lava rock walls, coconut trees and sparkling white bunkers. The Maui Historical Society recognized the course for its preservation of prehistoric lava rock walls during construction, and hailed as one of the world’s best designed courses by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler in the magazine’s first golf resorts poll. The Gold’s 200 foot elevation change from top to bottom enhances the numerous ocean and mountain views available from virtually every hole.

HAWAII (OHAU):

The Koolau Mountains tower in your sightline.  Palm trees line the green.  The white of your golf ball pops against the deep blue sky.  Even a bad game of golf on Oahu is still pretty darn good! Blessed with breathtaking scenery, unforgettable signature holes and championship calibre course design, it’s no wonder that Oahu attracts so many golfers from around the world.

You may want to make a few adjustments to your game in the islands.  Most notably, Hawaii’s trade winds can exaggerate mistakes in your swing on a windy day.  Luckily, most Oahu courses have wide, forgiving fairways.  Bermuda greens can also be harder to read than traditional bentgrass greens.  All these factors help make for some fund and challenging rounds on the golfer’s heaven of Oahu.

ROYAL HAWAIIAN GOLF CLUB:

Image of ROYAL HAWAIIAN GOLF CLUB by Teed Up Golf ToursFrom front nine to back nine; you journey from wide open spaces on hillsides below the magic mountain of Olomana, to dense tropical jungle that showcases Hawaiian flora and birds. Legendary Pete Dye and his son Perry have integrated crafty golf holes into tumbling terrain framed by ancient jungle trees upwards up of 100 feet tall at the foot of the Ko’olau Mountains in Oahu. The back nine builds to an exciting finish as it winds through leafy corridors to fast bentgrass greens; players are presented with tantalizing risk-reward scenarios, exemplified by the 386-yard par-four 6th and the 218-yard par-3 7th. With the lush tropical surroundings and few signs of civilization, locals refer to Royal Hawaiian as Jurassic Park, and it’s a hit with most everyone who plays it.

KO OLINA GOLF COURSE:

The 18-hole Ko Olina Golf Club ranks among Hawai‘i’s finest golf experiences. The challenging Ted Robinson layout features expansive landing areas perfect for golfers of all skill levels, multi-tiered greens, cascading waterfalls and a picturesque ocean location. If you love golf, why not play on one of Hawaii’s most beautiful courses with views of the Waianae Mountains on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. It will be a memorable experience for any golfer.
